THE EAST COAST
(NKMOD-01) 5 days / 4 nights – From Pyongyang

Itinerary

Day 01 PYONGYANG–MASIKRYONG L D 186 Km (115 Miles)

Depart early in the morning by road to Wonsan (approximately 4h30), port of the East Sea, the city is an important educational centre since there are no less than 10 universities. The road passes through the impressive Sinpyong valley and many tunnels built under the mountains. On the way, stop at a lookout to enjoy a panoramic view over the beautiful landscape.

WONSAN-SIJUNG

Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the railway station where one can see an old steam train.

Later on and after a short drive, enjoy the magnificent Ulrim waterfall then head to a charming Ski Resort located at the outskirts of Wonsan (about 32 Km) by the Masik Pass.

Dinner is at hotel. Overnight in Masikryong.

Day 02 MASIK PASS–MOUNT KUMGANG B L D 153 Km (95 Miles)

After breakfast, morning drive to the South along the coastline to reach Mount Kumgang, region dotted with ancient temples and waterfalls in a breathtaking landscape.

Along the way, stop to visit of a cooperative farm, fundamental base to the agricultural economy of the country, which can include up to several hundred families.

Lunch at Sijung beach.

In the afternoon, visit the Buddhist temple built in the 7th century and located at the park’s entrance. The temple was once one of the most important Zen monasteries. Then, short hike to reach Samil Lake located in a granite landscape with unusual shapes. Check-in at hotel at the end of the day.

Dinner is at hotel.
Overnight in Mount Kumgang.

Day 03 MOUNT KUMGANG–MASIKRYONG B L D 153 Km (95 Miles)

After breakfast, the morning is dedicated to a walk to explore Mount Kumgang. While walking the path crosses gorgeous lush and beautiful landscapes. The rumour goes that anyone with a pure heart will have the chance to see the animals leaving in the region.

Stop at the nine-dragon waterfall before climbing about 300 meters to the basins of eight tales and their superb panorama.

MOUNT KUMGANG

Lunch during the excursion. In the afternoon drive back toward Masikryong Ski Resort. Stop on the way, discover Chongokchong and its splendid basalt formations. Check-in at hotel upon arrival and time at leisure to enjoy a majestic landscape.

Dinner is at hotel. Overnight in Masikryong.

Day 04 MASIK PASS–PYONGYANG B L D 186 Km (115 Miles)

After breakfast, depart by road towards Pyongyang (approximately 176 Km).

On the way, stop for the visit of Tongmyong tomb, a stone mound where King Jumong remains since his death in the around 2nd century BC, the king was the founder of Koguryo Kingdom. Listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, the site also includes vassals’ tombs and Jongrun Buddhist temple.

PYONGYANG

Lunch is at local restaurant.

Upon arrival in the afternoon, visit Mangyongdae the birthplace of the founder of Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It became a very important pilgrimage site for North Koreans to pay their respect and more particularly before the birthday of Kim Il Sung.

Finally visit a North Korean beer brewery and end the day by tasting.

Farewell dinner at local restaurant.
Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 05 PYONGYANG B

After breakfast, depart for the next destination.

End of our services.

  • English speaking guide except during time at leisure and his assistant.
  • Entry fees for all sightseeing tours as mentioned on the program.
